Our First Crazy, Busy Week

Welcome to our first blog!!! Easton's Godmother, Erin, tried this for her family and we thought it was such a wonderful way to keep our family and friends updated weekly, so we thought we would try it out also! Sooo...here goes nothing...

Our first week in the life of blogging with the Thornburgs

What a crazy, busy week to start our first blogging attempt. It was definitely a milestone week for Mr. Easton. Last Saturday he was able to play with his friend Cade (only 3 weeks younger, pictured above) at an exciting birthday party and on Sunday had the opportunity to spend the whole day with his wonderful Granmommy (for those who don't know who Granmommy is, she is Cody's mom who lives in Waxahachie which is about an hour away from us in McKinney). Easton LOVED his special time with his Granmommy, however that little boy knows exactly when the most inappropriate times are to nap (one of his favorite past times since birth!). On Tuesday, he had his 6 month check-up at the doctors. Now for those who love doctors appointments, we were actually a little scared going into this one because Easton is such a chunker these days that we were petrified Dr. Webb would say we feed him too much...well, we were right about the chunker part!! He weighed 21 lbs and 3 ozs, but was 28 and 3/4 inches long. So in medical terms was "perfectly proportionate" and in the 95% of both his height and weight (yes, we grow hockey players at our house!). Easton had 4 shots at his appointment and was so sad to watch...he snuggled up to Cody for the remainder of his appointment because he didn't feel too good :( Wednesday was a HUGE accomplishment day for Mr. Easton as he learned to sit up for long periods of time!! Cody and I had him on our bed sitting up for almost 10 minutes...I must brag, he is developing his motor skills quite well! Ha!! Thursday was exciting as Easton's Godfather Caden came over to play and visit and feed him...Easton enjoyed himself sooo much with his Godfather that he slept until 7:45 am Friday morning (which is unheard of for Mr. Easton these days!).

Today however, has been a difficult today for all of us, including little man. Cody and I were recommended by the doctor to see a cranial specialist for Easton's head (nothing medically is wrong, so no worries!!!). Easton just has a flat head in the back portion of his head and the left back side slightly indents in, which could potentially cause jaw problems in the future if we were not to correct the problem. The solution for lil man...to wear one of the cranial helmets anywhere from 6-10 weeks. Sooooo....after long discussions, Cody and I decided that this is the best option for our little guy since of course we want our child to be perfect! Stay tuned for updates and pictures of the little man's helmet....he will by far be the cutest thing ever in it. Cody already has the design picked out...A Dallas Stars helmet of course (who would have guessed that? haha!! Cody is a DIE-HARD hockey fan and also plays!). So Easton is very fortunate enough to have a crafty and talented Godmother who is going to decorate his helmet for him! Should be the cutest darn thing ever!

As for Cody and I, we had a busy, super-productive week!! I decided last weekend that I was going to start training for the White Rock Lake Half Marathon on December 13th, so my first week of training started...not too bad yet!! On Monday Cody and I had our new bedroom furniture delivered, including a new bed (which means no more sleeping on the mattress on the ground....long story!). Sooo we have been sleeping on little clouds of heaven this past week...amazing what a difference a great mattress will make! Cody's big update for the week....he worked his butt off!! Ha!!

Stay tuned for more as our weeks will be crazier with more stories!!
